Grape Awards/December Emissions

Wouldn’t it be possible for Subdaos to handle this award voting process. Since only subdaos know how work flows and who’s well deserving. Most of the Dao members really don’t know how work in various categories work and who’s active or not… Most of this nomination are based on random picker. Also for the case of people who won in the previous epoch not being considered, this award is set out for those who are putting in a lot of work to grape, and this reward is for them. The statement that “people who were voted for last epoch shouldn’t be considered for this epoch” isn’t great as i won’t booster hardwork.

I also suggest we should have tiers in each subdao. The two top deserved winners in each tier on monthly emissions should be considered as people befitting for the grape award.

I agree with most of what you have said. The goal is to involve the community as much as possible in the process. At the same time, in the case that someone is not sure about a specific category, they might decide not to nominate anyone.

But I really get what you are saying here. For next epoch lets rethink the nomination procedure.

That makes sense if there being more than 5 nominees were a common occurrence. But it seems like it’s not and there’s usually a consensus around a few nominees?

I buy this idea with more than my two grape’s. The sole purpose of this reward is to have it given to outstanding individuals at the end of every month and to motivate the rest. If one person continue to win in one category, it’d get to a point where members from other subdao would have to wake up and put in more work. And I think it should just stick with being a community thing when it comes to voting. This alone is an enough powerful tool to bring new members up to speed in working with us. Most community members in due time would always want to make an inquiry on how possible it is for them to land a skill role in the server in order to participate

Some categories need a minimum amount of community members, if not some names will keep being repeated in future epoch’s.

My two Grapes

  • We need to find another voting system with one vote per category ,whats the point of someone in
    third place ? .
  • Voting sould be anonymous .
  • We need to be able to see previous epoch winners .
  • Maybe create a wallet were everyone can contribute ,token,or NFT for Overall contribution Winner or
    the Best New Gorilla .
  • Also need to find a mechanism if a role member feels its not active or contributing for an Epoch to be able to refund whatever he things to the Sub-Dao emissions pool.

Personally I feel it’s not ideal for everyone to be allowed to decide on the best community members in each subdao because not everyone is aware of the work being done in each subdao, not everyone knows who to vote for so they just click a random person, or most often times they just go with the majority. I feel like work output can be measured by the representatives of each subdao but first the subdao would have to elect a representative and if the representative are in charge of the selection, that won’t be fair to them if they can’t pick themselves in a situation where they have the highest contribution for the month. We need a system that encourages work output to increase. I strongly suggest that Team members should be given this task since they’re the only ones who don’t recieve the award Emissions if I’m correct. They also have access to all the subdao
I think each Team member should be assigned to watch a subdao especially the ones they’re part of already
In conclusion, I would say the current voting system only creates room for favoritism and popularity, meaning that the person with the highest output might not win if people vote based on who they know or like.
I think these awards should encourage work output and contribution to our community in general and not the latter.

Maybe researchers is an exception? At least for those who actually look at the content being produced by researchers. Researchers is a small group, so I think it makes a lot of sense to also get the opinions of non-researchers who have benefited from researchers.

Personally, my solution is to just not vote for subDAOs that I’m uninformed about. Is it too much to explain this expect everyone to vote accordingly?
